Gift from Riverton Hospital Employees

Would you like to be able to wear your
jeans on Wednesdays and not just on
“dress down” Fridays? Riverton
Hospital employees love their jeans
so much that they pay for the privilege.
Not only do they willingly pay a $2.00
fine, but they have donated the money
to worthy charities. LPC was
fortunate enough to be one of the
groups chosen and we were
delighted to receive a check for
$650.00 from the the Fun Committee
of Riverton Hospital.
This great group started the “Denim
for Dollars” program last fall and it’s
been a huge success. The
Committee chose people and
organizations in need of help in Nov.,
Dec. and Jan. In addition, the money
collected will go toward employee fun
events. What a great program!
Welcome Grants: Wyoming Community Foundation & Lander City Council
|

had risen sharply and members were feeling
blue, we received a letter from the Wyoming
Community Foundation notifying us that we had
been awarded a grant of $2,500. We would be
able to start a new fund to rescue abandoned
cats and kittens.
There was, however, a catch. We would receive
the money only if it were matched by the local
government unit that regulated domestic
animals, in our case the City of Lander.
Pet Connection members trembled in their boots.
We had never asked the city for anything and we
were very sure the answer to any request would
be a resounding "No!" Inwardly quaking, the LPC
Board presented its case. Amazingly, the Council
agreed that ours was a reasonable
request.However, Council members wanted their
funds to be spent to benefit Lander dogs.
That was fine, agreed the Community
Foundation. What was important was that the City
and the Pet Connection were working together to
solve their common problem. Thanks so very
much to both the Foundation and the city of
Lander. We're delighted to know we have your
support!
